  1. Conan the Librarian Said,

I work as a technical writer in Seattle, and I often write grants for my clients.

You need exceptional organization skills and superior writing skills. Be prepared to coordinate documents (ranging from 200 to 2000 pages) with dozens of co-workers in all levels of management (from the little guy in the cubicle, right up to the CEOs).

I have a BA in English, and have taken many courses in technical/professional/business writing.

I make $52,000 a year, and that is as a contractor. Full time writers can expect to make 10 to 30 percent more.

A grant writing career can be very rewarding, and in some cases it can provide a great deal of autonomy and flexibility for those who enjoy working from home.

Just conduct a search for yourself by typing in an online search on the phrase, “grant writing jobs” and you will discover well over a million results. Why? One reason is because winning grant money is one of the popular ways that nonprofit organizations raise funds.
